The communities of Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, Halifax, Hanson, Raynham, West Bridgewater and Whitman, collectively known as the Sachem Rock Regional Emergency Planning Zone, recently received certification as a start-up Regional Emergency Planning Committee (REPC). Together these seven communities coordinate all hazards emergency planning including regional emergency sheltering operations, HazMat planning and volunteer training.
MEMA Local Coordinator Doug Forbes presented the REOC certification to the group at their April meeting saying, “I would like to commend Chairman John Mitchell and all the members of the Sachem Rock Regional Emergency Planning Council for all their hard work and dedication. Thanks to their efforts, this region is a much stronger and safer place to live and work. The State Emergency Response Commission has unanimously approved the Sachem Rock application for start-up certification. Congratulations on a job well done!”
