*Media Advisory* Bridgewater Firefighters Deliver Baby Boy in Back of Ambulance

Acting Chief Michael MacDermott reports that three firefighters from the Bridgewater Fire Department delivered a baby boy in the back of an ambulance Wednesday afternoon.

The firefighters will be available to speak to members of the media Friday morning about the delivery.

Friday, Feb. 12, at 9 a.m.

WHERE:

Bridgewater Fire Department headquarters, 22 School St.

WHO:

Firefighter/Paramedics Jonathan Hart, Sean Peters and James Reidy

WHAT:

At approximately 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, a call came into the Bridgewater Fire Department by Massachusetts State Police for a person in labor at the Route 24 North Burger King.

Bridgewater Fire Engine 1 and Ambulance 5 responded to the scene and began to transport the mother to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

Ambulance 5’s crew — Firefighter/Paramedics Jonathan Hart, Sean Peters and James Reidy — delivered the baby boy at 12:01 p.m. while en route to the hospital.

Gavin DeLeon was born to mother Rachelle Gallagher and father Willy DeLeon. He was born weighing 4 pounds and 4 ounces. Both mother and baby are said to be doing well.
