2 Rescued from Lake Nippenicket

March 9, 2016 by Melissa Sullivan Leave a Comment

Bridgewater Fire Department responded to a call for an overturned boat on Lake Nippenicket just after 5:00 pm Tuesday, March 8th.  Members of Group 2 responded with the engine, 2 ambulances, Special Ops vehicle, air boat and command cars.  Witnesses reported two people in the water for an unknown duration of time.  Further reports indicated a local resident had launched his own boat in an attempt to pull the victims from the water.  The resident was able to assist the victims out of the water and brought them to shore in the area of Elm Street in East Raynham.

Ambulance crews treated the two victims who suffered from exposure.  They were subsequently transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

BFD’s air boat retrieved the capsized motorized canoe and removed it from the water.  The boat was brought back to the boat ramp where it was released to the Environmental Police.
