Last night the Bridgewater Fire Department held a Pinning Ceremony for its new EMS/Training Lieutenant Timothy Donovan and 8 new Firefighters- Joshua Anacki, David Bradshaw, Andrew Daigle, Nicholas Furey, Cori Handorff, TJ Nicholson, Joshua Poh and James Reidy.
Timothy Donovan has been a Firefighter with the Department since 2003 and was promoted to Lieutenant earlier this year.
Lt. Donovan pinned by his wife Kelly Donovan and his father retired Brockton Firefighter Jay Donovan.
The 8 new firefighter positions are funded through the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) hiring grant program. The $1.6 million dollar grant funds the salary and fringe benefits of 8 firefighter/paramedics for a two year period. The positions will be sustained beyond the grant period due to the turnover of the Department’s senior staff members over the next two years and through the additional revenue recognized by running a third ambulance with the increased staffing levels.
